Zahra, a two-time national-award-nominated stylist, was the first stylist in Pakistan to step beyond the world of celebrity red-carpet styling and commercial fashion campaigns to work with real brides. She created Glamgency as a first-of-its-kind company for future brides seeking professional guidance and assistance for all things bridal—ranging from collaborating creatively on the design, craftsmanship, and construction of their dream bridals to creating blueprints of the final look complete with makeup, hairstyling, and draping options.

In a short period of time, Zahra has come to be celebrated as a pioneer in bridal styling locally and an emerging talent in the South Asian fashion industry. Her experience in styling Lollywood and Bollywood celebrities has not only shone a spotlight on South Asian wedding couture on the global stage but has also allowed her to cross geographical borders to style brides all around the world.

Q1. What is the initial consultation process like for brides interested in Glamgency’s styling services, and what key elements are discussed?

Once you’ve expressed interest in our services by contacting us on our socials or through our website, the Glamgency team will call you to answer all your burning questions related to timelines and service fees. As soon as you make up your mind to have Glamgency style you on your big day, our founder and head stylist Zahra will set up a call with you to discuss the finer details of what you’re looking for with regards to your wedding wardrobe and your overall expectations of your prospective experience of working with a professional glam team.

Q2. What role do brides typically play in the collaborative styling process at Glamgency, and how do you ensure their vision is realized?

Bridal styling at Glamgency is indeed a highly collaborative process that combines the expertise of Zahra and her team and the likes, preferences, and input of the bride to create the perfect bridal look that is both impeccably designed and stitched, personalized, and aligned with trending aesthetics.

Typically, our brides are involved in the styling process from A–Z, picking and choosing from among the many references selected for them by our team, approving sketched-out designs, deciding between color swatches and fabric variations, and so much more, all the way down to giving their verdict on the final bridal look complete with jewelry, hairstyling, and makeup.

All brides are different. Some prefer to be kept in the loop every step of the way, needing daily updates on the biggest and smallest of details, while others fully hand over the reins to us. How collaborative the styling process is will, ultimately, depend on you: the bride.

Q3. How do you approach incorporating a bride’s cultural or personal preferences into their bridal look at Glamgency?

We love creating wedding outfits and curating bridal looks that pay homage to someone’s family traditions or wedding-specific cultural norms! We believe that incorporating bits of your cultural heritage is one of the most effective ways to put together a memorable, unique, and personalized bridal look.

In such cases, our first priority is to discuss with the bride whether she wants to channel her personal style or pay tribute to her cultural roots through her dress, jewelry, makeup or all three aspects of her look. With that preliminary question addressed, we set about doing our research, collecting references, creating moodboards, drawing up sketches in a bid to find artful and vendors and brands who will create bespoke pieces built around the culture or personal preferences of the bride.

I hired Glamgency and Zahra Sarfraz as my bridal stylist as it was my first time living here in Pakistan, and I have no sisters of my own to guide me. Zahra and her team happily took this role and took all the stress off my shoulders from the minute we started talking. She made me feel so comfortable as a sister would. Her team seamlessly organized all my appointments—some even with the designers themselves (which are very hard to get)—and held my hand every step of the way, making sure I never felt alone or confused. They respected all my decisions and wishes, wove them in the right direction, and brought me to a final destination where all my dreams (and more) were fulfilled!

I was extremely stuck between two outfits that I had shortlisted for my Baraat. However, I had only seen them in photos, and I wanted mine to be custom-made and different from everyone else’s. There was a dress I initially loved that I’m so glad I didn’t get because Zahra presented me with a much better option. The work and craftsmanship of the dress we picked is far more gorgeous than what I was originally going for. I can definitely say that if I hadn’t hired Glamgency, I might have chosen a dress that would have been quite common and not as beautiful as the one we finally picked. On top of that, I am now living hassle-free, knowing I’ll only have to book my trip to Pakistan in time for fittings. I cannot imagine how much time I would have wasted going from designer to designer if I had done this all on my own in person. Coming from someone who is very picky, I can say Zahra and her team are very much worth it.

I was referred to Zahra after I was unable to find my perfect Mehndi oitfit. I literally had no idea I could get something custom-made in such a short amount of time. The best part about hiring Glamgency was that I didn’t have to go chasing down designers living oceans away. Zahra came in the right contacts and had a beautiful vision for my wedding look. I just know I couldn't have gotten such s beautiful dress without her help. She understood exactly what I was looking for and delivered. Zahra also helped me procure the jewelry I needed and advised me on how I should get my hair and makeup done.

I’m getting married in India this year, and I came across Zahra’s page earlier this year. Her approach to style was refreshing and resonated with what I wanted for my wedding. She made sure the wedding pieces spoke to my personality. She and her team have been very responsive, and that has made the entire process very comforting, considering wedding planning can be quite daunting. Her close relationship with designers made it easier for me to get custom-made outfits that I could claim as mine only. I cannot recommend Zahra and her team enough. They will definitely help you create wedding outfits that will last you a lifetime!
